At the foot of the Andes in Maipo Valley, just 45 minutes from Santiago, Viña Santa Rita was founded in 1880 by Domingo Fernández Concha. Today the estate is a National Historic Monument, not only for its wine but also because its colonial cellars sheltered Chile's independence army in 1818 - decades before the first vines were planted. Walk through cellars declared National Historic Monuments, the estate's centenary park, gardens, chapel, and Roman baths. Taste four Ultra Premium wines plus a bonus pour, and take home two gifts - an engraved glass and a board crafted from reclaimed barrel staves. Every tour begins at the legendary 'cal y canto' cellars and the famous Bodega de los 120 Patriotas, where 120 of O'Higgins' soldiers took refuge during Chile's struggle for independence.
