Santiago has a skyline nobody warns you about, and the locals call it "Sanhattan". This walking tour strolls the modern financial district: Edificio Cruz del Sur, Escuela Militar, Titanium Park and the buzzing Mercado Urbano Tobalaba, then lifts you 360° above it all at Sky Costanera, the tallest tower in South America. Two and a half hours between glass towers and city views, in a small group with a local guide, in English, Spanish or Portuguese.
Bernardo O'Higgins founded this academy in 1817 to train Chile's first officers. It moved to this corner in the 1950s, when Las Condes was still farmland and the towers ahead of you did not exist.
Turkey's founder watches over this small plaza from his monument, his own words cut into the stone: "Peace at home, peace in the world." You would not expect to find him wedged between office towers.
